Legion of Mary

The Legion of Mary is an association of Catholics who, with the sanction of the Church and under the powerful leadership of Mary Immaculate, Mediatrix  of all Graces. The Legion is a worldwide organisation, living and fulfilling the ideals of the decree on the lay apostolate. It is concerned with the spiritual formation of its members through prayer and action and the vocation to serve other through dedication and prayer.

It's mission is to be at the disposal of the Parish Priest for all forms of evengelisation and pastoral care, so as to bring all people to Christ through Mary.

The Praesidium (group) in the Parish, 'OUR LADY QUEEN OF PEACE', meets every Wednesday usually in the Presbytery from 7:00pm. We pray for the Legion of Mary members and visit the sick at home including the housebound. As legionary members, we are looking to expand to visit people in residential and nursing homes as soon as we have the capacity of new members to full-fill this request. In October the Pilgrim statue of Our Lady is brought to the sick and the Rosary is said with them. Children are also introduced to the Rosary in their homes with their families. We attend pilgrimages and retreats and we have special Masses offered for our deceased members.

Membership is open to both men and women over the age of eighteen and new members are always welcome.

As confirmed Catholics we have been given gifts by the Holy Spirit. We are all called to share our gifts and talents. Come and join your efforts with Mary.

You are invitied to attend meetings and find out more, without any obligation.
